My friend’s teenage daughter was cleaning out her closet, and I scored this brand new, never-worn dress. Now, I’m no teenager, and knew this was too short for me, but I liked the details – a bold print, gathered shoulders, and a flattering crossover neckline. I’m rarely put off buying a skirt or dress if it’s too short. I usually add a contrast border at the hem, but this dress already had a border print, so I decided to cut through under the bustline. I delved into my fabric stash, and found some black spandex. I used it wrong side out as it was a little more matte. A couple of serged seams, and……Hey presto, a free dress that’s long enough for my advancing years :), and also flattering to a less than perfect figure!
